Customer Service for Security Officers
This lesson teaches APS security officers how to provide professional customer service while maintaining safety, authority, and clear boundaries.
Security officers are often the first person seen by clients, tenants, visitors, employees, vendors, and members of the public. The way an officer speaks, listens, gives directions, handles complaints, and presents themselves can directly affect how APS and the client are viewed.
Customer service in security does not mean ignoring rules or allowing unsafe behavior. It means being professional, calm, respectful, and helpful while still following post orders, client expectations, and APS policy.
A strong security officer knows how to greet people, provide clear information, stay patient during difficult interactions, and avoid unnecessary conflict. Officers should remain neutral, avoid arguments, and know when to involve a supervisor, Dispatch, law enforcement, or the client contact.
In this lesson, officers will learn how first impressions matter, how to communicate clearly, how to assist visitors and tenants, how to handle complaints, and how to maintain professional boundaries while representing APS.
