This course provides security officers with an overview of OC spray, commonly referred to as pepper spray or mace, and explains how it may apply to security work in Colorado and Arizona.
The course focuses on policy, legal awareness, de-escalation, reasonable use of force, documentation, post-incident responsibilities, and officer safety. This course does not replace any required state, local, employer, client, or certified instructor training.
For Colorado officers, special attention is given to Denver security guard requirements, including weapons endorsement expectations and reporting obligations. For Arizona officers, this course reviews the Arizona Department of Public Safety security guard training framework and how OC spray training may fit into employer policy.
Officers must follow APS policy, client post orders, state and local law, licensing requirements, and supervisor direction before carrying or using OC spray while on duty.
