Before assisting, officers must check for hazards such as traffic, violence, electrical danger, chemicals, or unsafe environments.

After the incident, officers should document:

• Time discovered.
• Location.
• Person’s condition.
• Notifications made.
• EMS arrival time.
• Actions taken.
• Witnesses or client contacts.
• Final outcome if known.
